Description
Each size 00 vegetarian cellulose capsule contains:
GABA (as Gamma Aminobutyric Acid) | 750 mg |
Description: Known as the body’s natural tranquillizer, gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA) is a major inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system.
Uses: GABA may reduce stress and anxiety, promote relaxation and improve sleep. Orally administered GABA has been shown to increase alpha waves and decrease beta waves in the brain- an indicator of relaxation (1). In a randomized, placebo controlled study, GABA alleviated stress in adults preforming mentally stressful tasks as shown by alpha wave activity (2). Another measure of stress is decreased immunoglobin A (IgA) levels. Subjects with fear of heights crossing a suspension bridge had significantly higher IgA levels when administered GABA as compared to placebo. This also suggests GABA may enhance immunity under stressful conditions (1). GABA shortened sleep latency and increased non-REM sleep time in a recent study (3).
Many factors can influence GABA production in the brain. Low levels can be caused by poor diet, chronic stress, gut dysbiosis, and lack of sleep.
Source Materials: GABA is made by chemical synthesis. Cellulose for capsules is derived from softwood tree pulp. All ingredients are vegan and non-GMO.
